Just proves what playing at Pitlochry does for your health! 113th year of the Tennis Championships of the HighlandsSince 1896, the second oldest tournament in Scotland has taken place in the grounds of the Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry—the heart of the Highlands. The four all weather courts nestle sheltered among the trees, (normally drenched by sunlight!) overlooked by the castle like towers of the hotel. There are few finer venues anywhere for a tournament such as this. Many famous names have been associated with it over the years and none ever forget the unique atmosphere generated by this friendliest of tournaments. Whilst the competitive edge is always there, the spirit of the event is often more important! Details of the 2008 tournament and entry form will be available shortly. We very much encourage Perthshire & Tayside entrants to all the events, but particularly the handicaps – as always please let us know at time of entry any time constraints you may have. John and Allison will always try their very best to accommodate you. Of course we know that this is what many of our regulars come for. Every evening Monday to Saturday in the Stagshead lounge, buffet catering followed by a variety of happenings! These include a Quiz Night, Irish Race Night, Barbecue and your very own Ceilidh (don’t forget to bring your party piece!). All these events are inclusive for our package residents, together with our finals day reception and dinner .

An early brood of ducklings came….and went. They look so vunerable in their first few days out of the egg, almost like thistledown drifting across the water, and they are with all manner of things ready and waiting to eat them. However other females are still sitting and,with luck, the later broods will make it over these first few days and provide a spectacle on the ponds and lawns this summer.
